VATSSA Currency Policy

Valid from: 15 June 2022

This document should be read in conjunction with any applicable VATSIM policy.

1. Currency Requirements

  • Home Controllers must control at least 3 hours per quarter within the Division to maintain currency.
    (Quarters: Jan–Mar, Apr–Jun, Jul–Sep, Oct–Dec)
  • Visiting Controllers must also control at least 3 hours per quarter within the Division to maintain currency.
    (Same quarters apply)
  • Overload FSS positions (named AFRx_FSS) require 1 hour per quarter within the Division to maintain currency.
    (Same quarters apply)

2. Consequences of Non-Compliance

  • Failure to meet the above currency requirements may result in withdrawal of controlling approvals within the Division without notice.
  • The only recognized source for current approvals is the listing on vatssa.com. No other source will be accepted as proof of approval to control.

3. Unauthorized Operations

  • If a controller logs into a position without the required approvals, a VATSIM Supervisor may be contacted.
  • Supervisors can access the current list of approvals on vatssa.com, and Division staff will follow up as necessary.
