This policy should be read in conjunction with any applicable VATSIM policy.
1. Overview
- Solo Certs are permissions granted for controllers to operate one level above their current rating (specifically for S2, S3, and C1 ratings) to gain practical experience prior to a Competency Practical Test (CPT).
- Not available for S1 ratings.
2. Conditions & Limits
- Solo Certs are limited to one specific position at a time and may be granted for up to 30 days.
- A controller may receive Solo Certs on a maximum of three separate occasions before a mandatory CPT.
- Controllers must be at examination standard before being issued a Solo Cert. The purpose of the Solo Cert is to provide network experience rather than assessment.
3. Issuance Authority
- Solo Certs may only be issued by the ATC Training Manager or the Training Centre Manager.
4. Record Keeping
- All Solo Certs will be recorded on the VATSSA website — which serves as the sole authoritative source for this information.
